Primitive Santa was adapted from my punchneedle pattern, however, this striking color palette was created by Karen Buchheit:
" I hooked in hand-dyed wools in a monochromatic color palette of blues, creams and browns. I change the background to show Santa standing on a wintery hillside with whimsical snowflakes falling around him and I continued the circle shapes throughout the entire dark blue sky." - Karen
NOTE: THE ORIGINAL PATTERN HAS A SCALLOP BORDER ON THE SIDES. KAREN OPTED NOT TO HOOK IT. SHE ALSO ADDED THE SNOW-COVERED GROUND AND THE "SNOWFLAKE" CIRCLES HERSELF. THE THIRD PHOTO IS MY PUNCHNEEDLE OF PRIMITIVE SANTA AND SHOWS HOW YOUR TRACED PATTERN WILL LOOK. YOU'LL HAVE TO ADAPT THE PATTERN YOURSELF IF YOU WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE KAREN'S RUG.
The finished rug measures approx 21" x 30". There's approximately a 3" border on all four sides with serged edges.
You will receive the image traced straight on the grain with a cover image and back cover in a poly zip bag. It's available on linen or monks cloth.
Like what you see and want to make a punched rug using the same wool yarn as pictured? You can purchase a kit with all of the yarn needed to create your project.
NOTE: You have the option of ordering a rug punching pattern meaning the drawing will be backwards because you work from the back side when punching a rug with wool yarn OR a hooked rug pattern for hooking wool strips from the front of the linen or monks cloth.
NOTE: Because these patterns are hand-drawn it may take up to 1 week to get your order shipped so plan ahead :)
I'm working with Michele of Wild Hare Rug Studio now. She is tracing the hand-drawn patterns for me :)
